To: Dr. Herman Goldberg, Associate CommissionerBureau of Equal Educational Opportunity, Department of Health Education and Welfare, Washington, D.C. In Full: "Dear Dr Goldberg: Enclosed is a copy of a letter from Bill J. Lillard, Superintendent of Schools at Oklahoma City regarding an application for ESAA funds. I would greatly appreciate a response in writing as to the satus of the application. Sincerely," Henry Bellmon (born 1921) won a Silver Star as a Marine tank platoon during World War II, participating in four amphibious landings in the Pacific, including Iwo Jima. He became Oklahoma's first Republican governor since statehood, serving 1963-1967 and again 1987-1991 and served two terms in the US Senate (1969-1981), retiring undefeated. After his political retirement, Bellmon taught at various universities in Oklahoma before returning to the family farm. Staple holes top left corner.
