Signature: “Forster/July 24th, 1922” in iron gall ink. 4x2. Henry William Forster, 1st Baron (1866-1936) was a conservative British politician who was educated at Eton and New College Oxford, and represented both school and university at cricket. In 1892 he was elected Member of Parliament for Sevenoaks division of Kent, and was a lord commissioner for the treasury, 1902-1905. In 1915 he became financial secretary to the war office in the Coalition government, in 1917 a privy councilor, and in December 1919, when he resigned, was created a baron. In June 1920 he was offered the post of Governor-General of Australia, which he accepted, and shortly afterwards he was appointed Knight Grand Cross of the Order of St Michael and St George. Irregular cut. Mounted on 5¼x2¾ white paper with a newspaper article affixed. Otherwise, fine condition.
