Typed Letter signed: "John H. Trumbull" as Governor, 1 page, 7¼x9¾. Hartford, Connecticut, 1925 January 31. On official letterhead to C. B. Whittelsey, President, The Hartford Rubber Works Company, Hartford, Connecticut. In full: "I am very happy to comply with your request for my autograph, and enclose herewith card with signature. Sincerely yours". John Harper Trumbull (1873-1961), a conservative Republican, was Governor of Connecticut from 1925 to 1931. Elected Lieutenant Governor in 1924, he succeeded to the top office when Governor Hiram Bingham resigned to fill a US Senate seat one day into his term. Trumbull was re-elected twice. Trumbull, a licensed pilot, was known as "the Flying Governor." Trumbull's daughter was married to President Calvin Coolidge's son. Mailing fold through center. Filing holes at left edge. Pencil note (unknown hand) at bottom edge. Lightly toned. Corners lightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
