Typed letter signed: "John V. Evans ", in black ink, 7¾x11. Boise, Idaho, July 16, 1979. On
his official letterhead as Governor, to "Dear Mr. Friscat", Paul Friscat, North Canton, Ohio,
in full: "Thank you for your recent letter. I am enclosing the picture and brochures that you
requested. A quotation which has meant a lot to me, and which use a lot in talking to young
people but which is equally applicable to older people is: "One should never stop learning". I hope
this will be of help to you. Sincerely". John Victor Evans, Sr. (1925-2014) was elected Idaho's
27th Governor in 1976, serving from 1977 to 1987. A Democrat, Evans first served as the
state's Lieutenant Governor from 1975 to 1977. Evans was the first Mormon to ever be
elected Governor of Idaho, and was the second Mormon in national history to server as
