GOVERNOR MARTHA COLLINSThe first female Governor of Kentucky signed this 5x7 black and white photograph Inscribed Photograph Signed: “Eva - / Best wishes / Martha Layne Collins / Governor of Kentucky / 1983-1987”. Actual image 4½x6½ with a white border (one surface). Martha Layne Collins (born in 1936) was Kentucky's first female Governor (1984-1987). Collins had previously served as Clerk of the Kentucky Supreme Court (1975-1979) and the state's Lieutenant Governor (1979-1983). As Governor, she pushed for major education changes via a $300 million education reform package and brought record numbers of jobs to Kentucky, partially due to her recruitment of a Toyota factory to the city of Georgetown. Note in pen in unknown hand on verso. Lightly creased corners. Otherwise, fine condition.
