Unsigned photograph and letter of the Florida Governor. Two items.
Photograph, unsigned. B/w, 8x10. Slightly creased at blank margins and corners, light paper clip impression at upper margin. Minor surface creases and striations (most not evident head on). Overall, fine condition. Accompanied by TLS: "Don Pride" as Press Secretary, 1p, 7¼10½. Tallahassee, Florida, 1973 November 14. On letterhead of "State of Florida/Office of the Governor/The Capitol" to Mr. Danny Franklin, Phoenix, Arizona. In full: "Enclosed are the photographs and information on past governors as you requested. Governor Askew appreciates your kind words and asked that I convey his best wishes. Sincerely". Only accompanying unsigned photograph is present. Slightly creased. Light paper clip impression at upper left margin. Reubin O'Donovan Askew (born in 1928) served as Democratic Governor of Florida from 1971-1979. He had previously been a member of the Florida State House of Representatives (1958-1962) and the Florida State Senate (1962). In 1984, Askew was a candidate for the Democratic nomination for President. Two items.
