Ogilvie (1923-1988) was the Republican Governor of Illinois from
1969-1973. A veteran of WWII, he had achieved notoriety as the Sheriff of
Cook County in the 1960s, notably for fighting the mafia. In 1987, Ogilvie
was appointed by Secretary of Transportation Elizabeth Dole to chair a committee
to analyze the termination of Amtrak's federal subsidy. After his death, the
Ogilvie Transportation Center in Chicago was named in his honor. Lightly creased
at blank margins and corners. Minor surface creases and striations (most not
evident head on), some at facial image. ¼-inch slit at mid-upper background.
