Three unsigned election pieces: pamphlets from the 1920 and 1921 Republican campaigns, and an admission coupon for the 1948 Republican National Convention.
Comprises: (1) Booklet, 4 pages, 6x8½, front and verso. Titled: "notification of/governor calvin coolidge/of massachusetts/of his nomination as the republican/candidate for/vice-president/of the/united states/northampton, massachusetts/july twenty-seventh/nineteen hundred twenty". The notification committee is listed, one member from each state and territory at the convention. Coolidge was nominated for Vice President at the June 8-12, 1920 Republican National Convention held at the Coliseum in Chicago. Governor Edwin P. Morrow of Kentucky officially notified Coolidge of his nomination. Light pencil erasure in upper blank margin. Fine condition. (2) Booklet, 4 pages, 3x5½, front and verso. Titled: "Our Standard Bearers". On the front of a local sample ballot for a November 1921 election, meant to be taken to the polls as a reminder for voting. The front also pictures the 1920 nominees Harding for President and Coolidge for Vice President. The ticket successfully beat Democrats James M. Cox and Franklin D. Roosevelt on November 2, 1920, a year before this local election. Fine condition. (3) Coupon, 2¾x1¼. "Republican National Convention, Philadelphia, June 1948, Second Session, First Day Only. This Coupon admits bearer in connection with undetached ticket." Lightly creased, else fine. At the 1948 convention, New York Governor Thomas E. Dewey was nominated for President and California Governor Earl Warren for Vice President. They lost to Truman-Barkley on November 2, 1948. Three items.
