Autograph letter signed: "Thomas P. Salmon", in blue ink, 8½x11. February 23, 1973. Montpelier, Vermont. In full: "Dear Mr. Taylor: Many thanks for your kind note of February 20. Your comments under the heading, "Let Us Bind Up The Nation's Wounds!" are food for thought. I appreciate your feelings on the matter. Sincerely". Thomas P. Salmon (b. 1932) began his political career as a Town Councilman and then in the Vermont House of Representatives-serving one year as House Minority Leader (Democrat). Salmon was elected Governor of Vermont and served in that capacity from 1973-1977. After an unsuccessful run for the U.S. Senate, he retired from politics. He served as president of the University of Vermont (1991-1998) and has practiced law in Bellows Falls, Vermont since. Normal mailing folds. Toned. Light surface creases. Adhesive residues and stains on corners. Faint, small stains across. Corners slightly worn and creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
