to card stock to an overall size of 8x11¼. Warren Eastman Hearnes (1923-2009), a veteran of
WWII and a Democrat, was the first man eligible to serve two consecutive terms as
Governor of Missouri (1965-1973). He was previously a member of the Missouri State
House of Representatives (1950-1961) and the Missouri State Senate (1961-1965). An
unsuccessful candidate for the U.S. Senate in 1976, Hearnes became a Judge on Missouri's
circuit court in 1980, making him the first man in Missouri's history to serve in all three
branches of state government. Hearnes' wife, Betty C. Hearnes, a former member of
Missouri's House of Representatives, was the Democratic nominee for the state's governorship
in 1988. Slightly creased at blank margins and corners. Minor surface striations and
impressions (barely visible head-on), one at eye. Otherwise, fine condition.
