The accomplished stage actress and producer of the early 1900s signs her name with good wishes
Autograph sentiment signed: "With good wishes/Grace George" in black ink. 4¾x2. The prolific stage actress and producer Grace George (1879-1961) was a formidable force in the entertainment industry, with a career spanning 50 plus years. Although George began with minor roles in her first productions, she quickly shot to the top, landing a starring role in Frou-Frou (1902) after only 5 Broadway productions to her name. Although the starring role was definitely not her last, her fame came not from her leading roles, but instead to her transition behind the scenes to producer, director, and writer. She would produce on a large number of plays, many of which she also performed in, becoming a dynamic and powerful name in the theatre world. Some of the more prominent plays she has lent her name to include The New York Idea (1915), Major Barbara (1915), and To Love (1922). Toned. Edges irregular. Light creases throughout. Ink note (unknown hand) on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
