Signature: "Grace Moore/1939", 6x4¼ album leaf. Grace Moore (1898-1947), born Mary Willie Grace Moore, was a lyrical soprano who starred at the Metropolitan Opera. Moore starred in two M-G-M films of the early 1930s before she was fired when she put on too much weight. After Columbia hired her, Moore, who was dubbed "The Tennessee Nightingale", helped popularize opera in a string of successful productions, including One Night of Love (1934), for which she was nominated for a Best Actress Academy Award. Moore was killed in a plane crash over Copenhagen during a European concert tour in 1947. She was 46. Mid-horizontal fold. Staple and binding holes at left edge margin. Fine condition.
