The actress signs an application for the regular membership to The American Society of Recording Artists.
Printed DS: "Grace Moore/Columbia Studios - Hollywood", 1p, 8½x11. Hollywood, 1935 January 21. On letterhead of The American Society of Recording Artists. Application for Regular membership. Docketed at lower left, embossed seal at docket. Grace Moore (1898-1947), born Mary Willie Grace Moore, was a lyrical soprano who starred at the Metropolitan Opera. Moore starred in two M-G-M films of the early 1930s before she was fired when she put on too much weight. After Columbia hired her, and Moore, who was dubbed "The Tennessee Nightengale", helped popularize opera in a string of successful productions, including One Night of Love (1934), for which she was nominated for a Best Actress Academy Award. Moore was killed in a plane crash over Copenhagen during a European concert tour in 1947. She was 46. Lightly creased with folds, light horizontal fold at signature. Lower left blank corner chipped away. Staple holes at upper left, pencil note (unknown hand) at upper right portion. Overall, fine condition.
