TLS: "Dönitz", 1p, 8x5¾. Aumühle, Holstein, Germany, 1963 December 22. To Mr. Allan. In German, with English translation. In full: "Thank you for your letter of the 9th Dec. Before you ask further questions, which I will gladly answer, I suggest, you only read my book once. It was published in America in the year 1959 by the World Publishing Company, New York and Cleveland, under the title 'Ten Years and Twenty Days'. In this, my memoirs, you will find many questions answered already; e.g. also the special question in which is contained in your letter to me is answered. The book 'The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich' contains unfounded material." Corrections in his hand. Grand Admiral of the German Navy in World War II, Dönitz was named by Hitler as his successor. As Führer, he ordered the German surrender. Dönitz was sentenced at Nuremberg to ten years imprisonment. Lightly creased. Fine condition.
