Photograph inscribed and signed: "Grandma Moses, To Mr. Wagoner". B/w, 10x8. This historic photo was taken in December of 1948 in the living room of Grandma Moses at her home in Eagle Bridge, New York. It captures Grandma Moses watching and participating in one of the earliest telecasts that integrated filmed footage and live participation on television. She was the subject of the telecast. Grandma was 88 years old at the time. The man to whom this photo is inscribed was a member of the television production crew. Although she did not start painting until age 76, prolific "American Primitive" painter Anna Mary Robertson "Grandma" Moses (1860-1961) produced about 2,000 works. Painted mostly on masonite board, her primitive paintings depicted scenes from her childhood and rural life. Between her 100th birthday on September 7, 1960 and her death on December 13, 1961 at the age of 101, she completed 25 paintings. Creased (not evident head on). Glue stains on verso, no show through. Otherwise, fine condition.
