45 RPM record by Grandpa Jones - Banjo Course
Record unsigned: Record titled "Grandpa Jones Banjo Course" Side One: 1. Cindy 2. Rose Don-o-lee Side Two: 1.The kicking Mule 2. Pretty Little Pink. Born Louis Marshall Jones (1913-1998) in Kentucky, the man who would become "Grandpa Jones" earned his moniker at the tender age of 22 while appearing on a Boston radio show. Since he sounded like a grumpy old man over the airwaves, Jones adopted the disguise that became instantly recognizable to millions of fans. Jones made his first recording with Merle Travis in 1943 and by 1946, after a stint in the Army, became a regular at the Grand Ole Opry. Among his most popular hits: "The All-American Boy", which appeared on the country charts in 1959, and "T for Texas", an old Jimmie Rogers song that reached number 5 on the charts in 1963. Jones was later known for his comedic skits, especially those with Minnie Pearl, on Hee Haw, beginning in 1969. The country singer, banjo player and comedian, was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1978 and continued recording into the 1980s. Fine condition.
