I do appreciate your good wishes and your interest in my work and welfare. Most happily I send you a biographical sketch and a picture. You also ask for the names of former Lieutenant Governors still living in this Province. We have only one surviving, and this is Dr. J. Percy Page, 1004 Academy Place, 10011 - 116th Street, Edmonton, Alberta. May I wish you good health and every happiness. Yours truly". Photograph not present. John Walter Grant MacEwan (1902-2000) was Lieutenant Governor of Alberta from 1966-1974. An agriculturist, historian and author, MacEwan was Professor of Animal Husbandry and Director of the School of Agriculture at the University of Saskatchewan from 1928-1941 and Dean of Agriculture and Home Economics at the University of Manitoba from 1946-1951. Over his career as an agriculturist, MacEwan wrote a number of books and articles, and he was an editor for agricultural journals. MacEwan had begun his political career by serving as a Calgary Alderman from 1953-1958, and he was Mayor of Calgary from 1963-1965. Two items.
