Photograph inscribed and signed: "To Nina/Gratefully/Grant Williams/15th April 1959". B/w, 5x7. In the year he signed this photograph, Williams appeared in a feature film, Lone Texan, and guest starred on five TV series: Gunsmoke, Yancy Derringer, Texas John Slaughter, Disneyland and Alcoa Presents: One Step Beyond. Stage, screen and TV actor Grant Williams (1930-1985) is best known for his leading role in the sci-fi film, The Incredible Shrinking Man (1957). A former stage actor, he had made his film debut the previous year, appearing in Red Sundown, Away All Boats, Outside the Law, Written on the Wind, Showdown at Abilene and Four Girls in Town. Primarily appearing in science fiction films and Westerns, Williams played similar roles on TV, guest starred on such shows as Gunsmoke (1959) and Bonanza (1965) in addition to appearances on Perry Mason (1964, 1965) and early TV anthology shows (Kraft Television Theatre, 1954, 1956; Studio One, 1955; Lux Video Theatre, 1955, 1956). From 1960-1963, he starred as Greg MacKenzie on the popular Hawaiian Eye. Williams, who also appeared on Broadway and sang for five seasons with the New York Opera, later opened his own acting school and wrote textbooks on acting.
