JOEL LARSON
The drummer from The Grass Roots signs a drumstick with the band name in black felt tip.
Drumstick signed: "Joel Larson/THE/GRASS/ROOTS" in black felt tip. 16 inches long, marked 5B. Rock and Roll percussionist Joel Larson was born on April 29, 1947 in San Francisco, California. Early in his career he performed with a band called the Bedouins, the band was a local hit and led Larson to become the drummer for the original The Grass Roots. The group was formed with Larson on Drums, Denny Ellis on guitar, Dave Stensen on Bass, and Willie Fulton on vocals and guitar. They performed on television backing up The Mamas & the Papas and soon had their own live broadcast on The Ed Sullivan Show. Signed under Dunhill records, the artists had very little creative control over the group and Larson and his group members were eventually replaced. Larson soon formed a new group The Merry-Go-Round. The rock group released a self-titled album in 1967 and performed at the 1967 Fantasy Fair and Magic Mountain Music Festival in California. He also worked with The Turtles, Lee Michaels and Gene Clark at that time. In 1971, he rejoined The Grass Roots and played with them until 1975. The group released three more albums in that time Move Along, Alotta' Milage and The Grass Roots. Today (2011) he works in both the film and music entertainment industries. Fine condition.
