GREAT BALLS OF FIRE: DENNIS QUAID and WINONA RYDER
The co-stars of the 1989 film biography of legendary rocker Jerry Lee Lewis.
Photograph signed: "Dennis Quaid" and "Winona/Ryder". Color, 8x10 overall, image 6½x9½ (one surface). Publicity photograph for the 1989 film, Great Balls of Fire, which starred Quaid as Jerry Lee Lewis and Ryder as Myra Gale Brown. In 1989, Ryder was also seen on the big screen in Heathers. The younger brother of Randy Quaid, DENNIS QUAID (born in 1954) usually plays more serious roles than his often comic brother. His most memorable films have included Breaking Away (1979), The Right Stuff (as astronaut Gordon Cooper,1983), The Big Easy (1987), Great Balls of Fire (as rock icon Jerry Lee Lewis, 1989), Dragonheart (1996), Frequency (2000), The Rookie (as real-life middle-aged baseball rookie Jim Morris, 2002) and Far From Heaven (2002), for which he received several film awards (but no Oscar nomination) for his portrayal of a closeted gay husband in 1950s suburban Connecticut. WINONA RYDER (born in 1971), the goddaughter of LSD enthusiast Timothy Leary, who was raised in a hippie commune, emerged as a major film star. She received Oscar nominations for her roles in The Age of Innocence (1993) and Little Women (1994), and she has also starred in such films as Heathers (1989), The Crucible (1996) and Girl Interrupted (for which she was also executive producer, 1999). In 2002, Ryder "starred" on Court TV in her shoplifting trial. A battle ensued as to whether her fashionable loot, including a $1,595 Gucci dress that was introduced as evidence, should be auctioned off for charity or returned to Saks Fifth Avenue for destruction. Despite her legal troubles, Ryder went on to appear in several feature films. Slightly creased at blank margins and corners. Minor surface creases and smudges (not evident head on). Overall, fine condition.
