GREER GARSON
Head and shoulders image, inscribed in person to collector Saul Goodman
Photograph inscribed and signed: "For Saul/Greer Garson". B/w, 8x10. Collector's ink stamp on verso dates signature: July 27, 1940. Greer Garson (1908-1996) won the Best Actress Oscar for Mrs. Miniver (1942) and received six other nominations for roles in films including Goodbye Mr. Chips (1939), Madame Curie (1943) and Sunrise at Campobello (1960). She ties Bette Davis for the most consecutive Best Actress nominations (5 from 1938 through 1942). Garson became a US citizen in 1951, becoming a prominent philanthropist in her adopted state of Texas. Saul Goodman (1919-2003), a New York business man by day, pursued his love of film and theatre in the evening, making friends with many celebrities. While other autograph seekers offered album leaves, Goodman presented stars with snazzy photographs, a rarity then, to sign in fountain pen. Light central vertical line. Minor creases and surface marks. Otherwise, fine condition.
