GREG GARRISON. Typed Letter signed: "Greg", 1p, 8½x11.
Burbank, California, 1984 February 9. On letterhead of Greg Garrison
Productions to actress/comedienne Phyllis Diller. In full: "I thought
you were wonderful. But then again I thought you were wonderful before you
showed up. You have the best laugh in the show. I used it a dozen times and the
spot that you did was what I expected. On the nose, professional, done with your
own inimitable style and it worked. We taped almost two hours worth of material.
NBC only gives us 52 minutes. So there were a few spots that were heavily cut.
Yours was just trimmed slightly. Thanks for being part of the show airing NBC,
February 23 at 10 o'clock. Love". Greg Garrison (1924-2005) directed
nearly 4,000 TV shows, including Your Show of Shows (1950-1952) and
The Dean Martin Show (1965-1974) and Dean's celebrity roasts. He also
directed the Kennedy-Nixon Presidential debates of 1960. Garrison was
nominated for more than a dozen Emmys, although he never landed one. A
combat pilot in World War II, he spend time in a German P.O.W camp.
Lightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
