GREGG BARTON
Very rare black and white photograph showing the actor from the waist
up wearing rugged western attire
Photograph inscribed and signed: "To Allan/Bet Wishes/Gregg
Barton/Memphis '86", B/w 8x10. Gregg Barton (1912-2000) made his
first film appearance in The Flying Tigers (1942). His scenes were
filmed early, so that he could join the Marines. Proving he was not just a
celluloid hero, Barton won a Silver Star leading a Marine tank platoon on Iwo
Jima (1945). Returning to action movies, he appeared in many in the
two decades after the war, including The Three Musketeers, The
Conqueror and Morituri. Soon he was in demand for TV Westerns,
featured as Stan Richter on The Gene Autry Show, and appearing with Annie
Oakley, Roy Rogers, the Lone Ranger, Wild Bill Hickok, Wyatt Earp and many
others. His last TV role was in his fourth episode of Death Valley
Days (1966). Fine condition.
