GREGORY PECK
Handwritten letter by the Academy Award winning actor, written during production of his 1974 film The Dove.
Autograph Letter signed: "Gregory Peck". 2 pages, 8¼x11½, on blue tissue paper. No place, 1972 August 4. To Loren, in full: "Since I am to make a film, London based, in Israel during October and November, I am making plans to produce our film of Dove (sic) from a European base as well. This will mean that I will be around and available for the John Player appearance during the Winter and next Spring. It is entirely up to you whether it is to be a single evening, or a number of films. My only requirement would be to have a hand in the selection, if there are to be several films. You mentioned a BBC stipend of £$25.00. If you a (sic) holding the cheque, you could send it to Barclay's, the branch across from the Dorchester, for deposit to our account. With appreciation, and kind regards." The Dove was produced by Gregory Peck in 1974. It told the true story of a 16-year-old boy who sailed alone around the world in a 23-foot sloop named The Dove. Nominated for five Academy Awards for Best Actor, Gregory Peck (1916-2003) won the 1963 Oscar for the role of Atticus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird. He received nominations in 1946 for portraying Father Francis Chisholm in The Keys of the Kingdom, in 1947 for the role of Pa Baxter in The Yearling, 1948 for playing Phil Green in Gentleman's Agreement and 1950 for the role of Brigadier General Frank in Twelve O'Clock High. He won the American Film Institute's Lifetime Achievement Award in 1989. Slightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
