unknown hand. 6x2¾ with perforated left edge. June 4, 1954. Check no. 6
for $350, made out to Wes Sardinaux and payable from Peck's account at the
Beverly Hills office of California Bank in Beverly Hills, California.Theyear thatPeck signed this check, he starred in three
films: Night People, The Million Pound Note and The Purple
Plain. He also received a British Academy of Film and Television Arts
award for Best Foreign Actor for his performance in Roman Holiday
(1953). Nominated for five Academy Awards for Best Actor, Peck
(1916-2003, born Eldred Gregory Peck in La Jolla, California) won the
1963 Oscar for the role of Atticus Finch in To Kill a
Mockingbird. He received nominations in 1946 for portraying Father
Francis Chisholm in The Keys of the Kingdom, in 1947 for the role of Pa
Baxter in The Yearling, 1948 for playing Phil Green in Gentleman's
Agreement and 1950 for the role of Brigadier General Frank in Twelve
O'Clock High. Peck got his start on the stage, making his Broadway debut in
The Morning Star (1942) before starring as a Russian guerilla in Days
of Glory (1944). Lightly creased. Normal bank stamps and cancellation holes,
which touch signature and handwriting. Folded once and unfolded. Otherwise in
fine condition.
