longer with the show: Isaiah Washington, who played Dr. Preston Burke and who left
the show in 2007; and Kate Walsh, who played Dr. Addison Montgomery-Shepherd
and who left Grey's Anatomy for the spinoff Private Practice. Remaining cast members
include Ellen Pompeo (the eponymous Dr. Meredith Grey); Justin Chambers (Dr. Alex Karev),
Patrick Dempsey (Dr. Derek Shepherd), Katherine Heigl (Dr. Isobel Stevens, also known as
Izzie), T. R. Knight (Dr. George O'Malley), Sandra Oh (Dr. Cristina Yang), James Pickens, Jr.
(Dr. Richard Webber) and Chandra Wilson (Dr. Miranda Bailey). Heigl received an Emmy
Award in 2007 for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her
performance as Stevens, and Oh and Wilson have respectively received a Golden
Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award. In addition, the cast received a Screen Actors
