Autograph Musical Quotation signed: "Gunther Schuller" 1p, 8½x11. Titled:"String Quartet No. 2"withtwo bars of music for the first violin, second violin, viola, and violoncello. GuntherSchuller (1925-2015) is an American composer, horn player, and jazz historian. The noted horn player popularized the "cool jazz"style and was instrumental in the revival ofragtime. By 1959, Schuller mostly gave up playing and devoted himself full time to composing and conducting, studying with greats like Dizzy Gillespie and John Lewis. Hewasawarded the 1994 Pulitzer Prize in Music for Of Reminiscences and Reflections, among several other awards and honorary degrees. One chip (all intact) at right blank edge.
