GUY LOMBARDO ORCHESTRA: GUY, VICTOR and LEBERT LOMBARDO
Photo of all 4 brothers, signed by three
Photograph signed: "Guy Lombardo", "Victor Lombardo", "Lebert Lombardo". Sepia, 8x10. Popular bandleader GUY LOMBARDO (1902-1977) played "the sweetest music this side of heaven" His band, Guy Lombardo and His Royal Canadians, formed in 1924, with brothers VICTOR and LEBERT Lombardo as original members. Guy, a violinist, soon concentrated on conducting. Victor (1911-1994) played woodwind instruments. Lebert (1905-1993) played trumpet and occasionally sang. After Guy's death, Lebert's son Bill led the orchestra until it disbanded. A fourth brother, Carmen, joined the group soon after. Louis Armstrong called the group, which sold over 100 million records between 1927 and 1954, his favorite band. Known for his traditional New Year's Eve musical program, which ran from 1929 through 1976, first on the radio then on TV, Guy was an avid speed-boat racer and was the national champion from 1946-1949. Lightly creased at corners. Fine condition.
