In Full: “The Governor General has asked me to thank you for your kind letter of
August 11th, for your interest in his actions as Governor General and to send you
his coloured autograph, as requested”. Mailing creases. Lightly toned. Otherwise,
fine condition. Accompanied by a 6½x8½ printed photograph unsigned. Actual
image 4½x5¾ with a white border (one surface). Fine condition. Guy Robillard
was Michener's Press Secretary. Roland Michener (1900-1991) was Governor
General of Canada from 1967 to 1974. In this position, he represented
Canadian monarch Elizabeth II at ceremonies. Before being appointed to this
position, he was Speaker of the House of Commons (1957-1962). He held
several other public offices, beginning in 1945 as a member of the Legislative
Assembly of Ontario. Two Items.
