H.G. WELLS The well-respected sci-fi author pens this letter regarding deadlines surrounding the future publication of his work Autograph Letter signed: "H.G. Wells" in black ink, 1p, 6¾x9. Buckingham Gate, London, no date but 1919. To Mr. McPeake. In full: "September 1919 is getting a little too close. Of course I don't mind the agreement shifting the date up two months towards us like this but you must clearly understand that by doing so, you greatly diminish the probability of the transaction coming off at all. It is a hypothetical affair anyhow but the better you can fit me the more likely is it to be realized." This letter was written to Janes Young McPeake, Managing Director of the National Magazine Company, discussing the publication of his work in Nash's Magazine and the Cosmopolitan. English historian and novelist Herbert George Wells (1866-1946) not only wrote the ambitious The Outline of History (1920), but also a considerable number of enduring science fiction novels including The War of the Worlds, The Invisible Man, and The Time Machine. Fine condition.
