Typed letter signed: “Hi Phillips” in pencil. 8½x11. March 17, 1938. To “My dear Sobol:” in
full: “It meant a lot to me to get your conforting [sic] message. Somehow it seems to bring us
both back to the old days in Connecticut. I wish you might have known Mrs. Phillips,
because you would have come to think so much of her. Thanks again, and will [sic] all good
wishes for you and yours, Sincerely”. H.I. Phillips was a newspaper columnist and editor for
The New York Sun. Signer merits further research. Toned. Corners rounded. Lightly creased
throughout. Horizontal and vertical folds. Otherwise, fine condition.
