The radio news reporter for CBS and NBC during the 1920s-1940s signs
this typed note on a postcard to a Carrie Irene Burr
Typed note signed: "H V Kaltenborn" in blue ink. 5½x3½
postcard. August 9, 1941, written on a printed postcard with a photo of
Kaltenborn reporting, addressed to Miss Carrie Irene Burr, 1c stamp affixed.
In full: "Here is the autograph, and with it go my best wishes.
Sincerely yours". Hans VonKaltenborn (1878-1965) was chief
news commentator for CBS (1929-1940), switching over to NBC in 1940. He was
famed for his almost nonstop broadcasts during the 1938 Munich crisis, his
reports from European and Pacific fronts in WWII and his coverage of
presidential campaigns beginning in 1932. Kaltenborn was a panelist on the
NBC TV quiz show, Who Said That? in 1954. Toned. Lightly soiled. Corners
rounded. Paperclip mark and rust stain at bottom right corner. Otherwise, fine
condition.
