Inscribed photograph signed "To/John Meyers, Jr./From/'The Great/Gildersleeve'/Hal Peary". With pencil notations in unknown hand on verso. B/w sepia-toned, 7¾x9¾ overall, 7¼x9½ image, one surface, printed on cardstock. A talented singer as a child, Peary (1908-1985, Harrold Jose Pereira de Faria in San Leandro, California) was cast as Throckmorton Gildersleeve on the Fibber McGee and Molly Show (1935-1951). In what may have been broadcasting's first spinoff, Peary got his own weekly show in 1941, The Great Gildersleeve, which ran until 1958. Lightly toned, creased and bowed, otherwise in fine condition.
