Photograph inscribed and signed: "To/April/'Good luck'/from/Hal
Williams/actor/1984". B/w, 8x10 overall, image 6¾x9¼ (one surface). Perhaps
best known for his role as Sgt. Lucien C. "Ted" Ross in both the film (1980) and
television (1981-1982) versions of Private Benjamin, Williams also
appeared in a number of other feature films and television movies and series.
His other big screen credits include Hardcore (1979), The Escape
Artist (1982) and The Rookie (1990), and Williams appeared made for
television films including Sidekicks (1974), Don't Look Back: The
Story of Leroy "Satchel" Paige (1981), Percy and Thunder (1993) and
The West Side Waltz (1995). A staple of 1970s and 1980s television,
Williams was featured in the recurring role of Officer "Smitty" Smith on
Sanford and Son (1972-1976) and appeared on a number of other series,
including Good Times (1974, 1975, 1978), The Jeffersons (1977,
1984) and Roots: The Next Generations (1978, 1979), before starring in
his own sitcom, 227 (1985). In the 1990s, Williams's guest starred on
The Sinbad Show (1993, 1994), Tales From The Crypt (1994) and
Suddenly Susan (1996). Fine condition.
