BASEBALL HALL OF FAMERS
Killebrew, Kaline, Snider, Molitor and Feller sign home plate.
Baseball Home Plate signed: "Harmon Killebrew", "Al Kaline", "Duke Snider", "Paul Molitor" and "Bob Feller". Signed in blue felt tip on a regulation size rubber home plate. The winningest pitcher in Cleveland Indians history, Bob Feller (1918-2010) became the first pitcher since charter member Walter Johnson to be elected to the Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility (1962). Though regarded as the fastest pitcher of his day, "Rapid Robert" himself attributed his strikeout records to his curve and slider. Feller set a ML record with 208 walks and led the AL in both strikeouts and wins from 1939 to 1941. He was voted All-Star in 1938-1941, 1946-1948 and in 1950. DUKE SNIDER (1926-2011), elected to the Hall of Fame in 1980, was the power-hitting centerfielder for the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers from 1947-1962, setting National League records for World Series homers (11) and RBIs (26). In an era when New Yorkers passionately argued the relative merits of Snider, the Yankees' Mickey Mantle and the Giants' Willie Mays, the Duke was a key component of the only Brooklyn Dodger World Championship team (1955). He hit 407 lifetime home runs. AL KALINE, known as "Mr. Tiger", hit more home runs and played in more games than any other Detroit Tiger. He played for the Tigers from 1953-1974, and won 10 Gold Gloves (1957-1959, 1961-1967). Kaline led the American League in batting in 1955, ending at .340 with 27 home runs, 102 RBIs and 121 runs; that year he became the youngest AL batting champ, shading the immortal Ty Cobb for the honor. Kaline was a 15-time all-star (1955-1967, 1971 and 1974) and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1980, his first year of eligibility. HARMON KILLEBREWS (1936-2011) played 21 seasons for the Minnesota Twins (1954-1974) before playing a final year in 1975 for the Kansas City Royals. He was the American League's Most Valuable Player in 1969; led the league in home runs in 1959, 1962-1964, 1967 and 1969, finishing with 573 for his career. He led the league in RBIs in 1962, 1969 and 1971 and was an all-star in 1959, 1961, and 1963-1971. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1984. The American League Rookie of the Year in 1978, PAUL MOLITOR had a 21-year Major League career which earned him admission to the Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility (2004). A 7-time All-Star, led the league in runs scored and in hits three times each. Molitor went to the World Series with the Milwaukee Brewers (1982) and Toronto Blue Jays (1993), earning the Series MVP award in the '93 Series victory over the Phillies. Although not an outstanding fielder, Molitor was a versatile one, playing five different positions (2B, 3B, SS, 1B, LF) as well as designated hitter. Whatever his stolen base total - Baseball-reference.com credits him with 504 - he was a menace on the base paths, swiping over 40 bases for times with an impressive 75% stolen base success rate. Lightly soiled. Otherwise, fine condition.
