Signature: "Hamilton Harris", 3½x2. Hamilton Harris (1820-1900) was an American politician who served in the New York Senate from 1876 to 1879. He previously served in the New York State Assembly in 1851. A New York native, Harris practiced law in Albany where he served as District Attorney from 1854-1856. He later served in the New York State Republican Committee from 1864 to 1870. He was a member of the Board of Capitol Commissioners from 1865-1875, and in 1885 he was elected a Regent of the University of the State of New York. Lightly toned around edges. Pencil note (unknown hand) on verso. Fine condition.
