HANK AARON and HOYT WILHELM
The Slugger and pitcher who both made it into the hall of fame sign this color photo in
blue felt tip
Photograph signed: "Hank Aaron" and "Hoyt Wilhelm" Color, 8x10. Hall of Famer HANK
AARON (1934-2021) played for the Braves in Milwaukee (1954-1965) and Atlanta
(1966-1974), and for the Milwaukee Brewers (1975-1976). From 1974 to 2007, he held
the record for most career home runs (755), besting Babe Ruth's 714, but was later edged
out by Barry Bonds' 762. Aaron is synonymous with home runs, but there was much more to
"Hammerin' Hank" than his 755 round-trippers. He also set all-time marks for the most
games, at bats, total bases and RBI's, and his batting average over 23 seasons was .305 -
all indications of the all-around ability of the quiet man from Mobile. The NL MVP in 1957,
he appeared in a record 24 All-Star contests with the Braves (Milwaukee and Atlanta) and
Brewers. HOYT WILHELM is the first relief pitcher to be elected to the Hall of Fame
(1985). In his 21-year career, he pitched for eight teams and was released by the Dodgers in
1972, five days before his 49th birthday. Wilhelm was the only rookie to win an ERA title.
He pitched for the Chicago White Sox from 1963-1968. Aaron and Wilhelm were
teammates on the Braves in 1969, 1970 and 1971. This photograph was taken by Mark
Velarde at an old-timers game played in Indianapolis in 1983 or 1984. Fine condition.
