HANK AARON
HANK AARON TIES BABE RUTH AT 714!
Photograph signed: "Hank/Aaron". B/w, 10x8, on light glossy cardstock. In this photograph, taken on April 4, 1974 at Cincinnati's Riverfront Stadium, Hank Aaron has just hit a 3-1 pitch off Cincinnati Reds pitcher Jack Billingham. The baseball is visible in this photograph. It went over the fence in left-centerfield for Aaron's 714th career home run, tying Babe Ruth's record. Hall of Famer Hank Aaron (1934-2021) played for the Braves in Milwaukee (1954-1965) and Atlanta (1966-1974), and for the Milwaukee Brewers (1975-1976). From 1974 to 2007, he held the record for most career home runs (755), besting Babe Ruth's 714, but was later edged out by Barry Bonds' 762. Aaron is synonymous with home runs, but there was much more to "Hammerin' Hank" than his 755 round-trippers. He also set all-time marks for the most games, at bats, total bases and RBIs, and his batting average over 23 seasons was .305 - all indications of the all-around ability of the quiet man from Mobile. The NL MVP in 1957, he appeared in a record 24 All-Star contests with the Braves (Milwaukee and Atlanta) and Brewers. Bowing at left edge from moitsure damage. Otherwise, fine condition.
