HANK SAUER and DANNY McDEVITT
Album leaf signed by 1952 National League MVP Hank Sauer and by Danny McDevitt, who started for the Dodgers' last game before their move to Los Angeles
Signatures: "Hank Sauer" and "Danny McDevitt", both in blue ink.5¼x4½, rounded left corners. SAUER (1917-2001), born Henry John Sauer, entered the Major Leagues in 1941 and retired in 1959, with his best seasons in the Cubs' Wrigley Field. He was the National League's Most Valuable Player in 1952, leading the league in RBI's (121) and tying for the lead in homers (37). He was an All-Star in 1950 and 1952. MCDEVITT, born Daniel Eugene McDevitt in 1932, was a major league pitcher from 1957 to 1962, mostly with the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers. McDevitt started for the Dodgers' last game before they moved to Los Angeles in 1957. He was also part of two championship rosters - the 1959 Dodgers and 1961 New York Yankees - although he didn't play in the World Series. In all, McDevitt had a career record of 21-27 with an ERA of 4.40, seven saves, four shutouts and 303 strikeouts. Lightly toned and creased. Show-through touches both signatures. Light impressions on McDevitt's side, which touch his signature. Lightly discolored along edges. Torn from album at right edge. Otherwise in fine condition.
