HANK WILLIAMS, JR
Color publicity photograph of Hank Williams, Jr. playing a piano.
Photograph inscribed and signed: "to: Sam/Hank/Williams Jr.". Color, 8½x11 overall, image 6¼x10¼. Captioned at right margin. On verso printed biography. The son of country music legend Hank Williams, Sr., who died when his son was only three, Williams became a popular country singer with a very different style than his father's. While his concerts always contain musical tributes to his dad, Williams' style is rowdy "outlaw country", influenced by Southern rock. Initially popular in the 1960s, he made an impressive comeback from a near-fatal mountain climbing accident (1975) that required reconstructive surgery and learning to talk and sing again. He had a string of No. 1 country hits, peaking with three in 1981: "Texas Women", "Dixie On My Mind" and "All My Rowdy Friends (Have Settled Down)". Williams, who was named Entertainer of the Year by the Country Music Association in 1987 and 1988, had 15 consecutive gold or platinum selling albums. Slightly creased at corners. Fine condition.
