Royal Air Force cover with color cachet honoring the 55th anniversary of the formation of the
first RAF night bomber squadron, February 1, 1972, Royal Air Force Topcliffe. Postmarked
British forces postal service. One 3 pence British stamp affixed. Color illustration of a Vickers
Wellington B.Mk3 cacheted on left side of envelope. Postmarked three times on verso (RAF
Wildenrath, February 2, 1972; Bomber Command Operations Room Strike Command
Operations Center February 5, 1972; and Post Room Topcliffe, Yorks) HANS KRAUSE
flew for Nazi Germany throughout World War II. HUBERT RAUH (1913-2005) was a
major in the Luftwaffe during World War II. He received the Knight's Cross of the Iron
Cross for his service during the War, and eventually was promoted to the rank of oberst,
retiring in 1974. KLAUS SCHEER reach the rank of leutnant in the German Luftwaffe.
During World War II he recorded 24 victories and was a member of the NJG 100 unit.
Identities and accomplishments of the signers are neatly stamped in German on verso. Lightly
toned. Corners gently worn. Otherwise, fine condition.
