Inscribed photograph signed: "Pat -/ Happy 1983/ Holidays/ Henry
Winkler" in green ink and "To: Pat/ Take it easy/ Ron Howard" in
black ink. B/w, 10x8. Happy Days (1974-1984) tells the story of life
in Milwaukee in the 1950s, focusing on the Cunningham family. The show was
in the Nielsen "Top 20" for each of the comedy's first six seasons on
ABC. Professionally, RON HOWARD (b. 1954) has come a long way from the
tousle-haired, barefoot sheriff's son who trod the byways of idyllic Mayberry
(it was as the mischievous but guileless Opie that Howard became famous) to
reside in the heady company of Hollywood's most elite directors. (Between the
child star and the noted directed was an intervening period as a teen actor,
including starring roles in American Graffiti (1973) and the long-running
TV series Happy Days. He directs well-crafted films aimed at mainstream
audiences, and he enjoys a reputation as one of the most versatile and gifted
directors of his generation. Some of the highlights of his directorial
efforts include Splash (1984), Cocoon (1985), Apollo 13
(1995), Ransom(1996), How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000),
The Da Vinci Code (2006) andA Beautiful Mind (2001 - Oscars
for Best Picture, Best Actress, Best Screenplay and, of course, Best
Director). On October 30, 1973 his 28th birthday, HENRY WINKLER joined
the popular sitcom Happy Daysas Arthur "Fonzie" Fonzarelli.
Although his character was never meant to be the star of the show, kids
of all ages soon were imitating his leather-jacketed greaser with his trademark
"Aaaay!" Both before and since Happy Days completed its run (1974-1984)
on ABC, Winkler appeared several feature films, including Heroes (1977),
Night Shift (1982) and Scream (1996). Winkler has also appeared in
a long list of TV series, from Mary Tyler Moore (1973) to a recurring
role as Barry Zuckerhorn on Arrested Development (2003-2005). He
returned to headline his own sitcom with Out of Practice, which
debuted in September 2005. Winkler has also been a successful director, producer
and executive producer. Corners rounded. Ink shows through on verso. Otherwise,
fine condition.
