The actor's rare handwritten note, dated in 1967!
Autograph note signed: "All good wishes to/Thomas Riosdam/Hardie
Albright/1967" in black ink, 5x3 card. On stage from childhood in his
parents' vaudeville act, Hardie Albright (b. Albrecht, 1903-1975) was a
character actor in many films of the 1930s and 1940s. He got a few starring
roles, notably as Arthur Dimmesdale in The Scarlet Letter (1935).
He was the voice of the young Bambi in the Disney film (1942). He
appeared in a dozen Broadway plays, Shakespearean roles included, between 1926
and 1938. He retired in 1948 to write about acting and to teach drama at UCLA,
but returned to television in the 1960s. He made multiple appearances in both
sitcoms (Leave It to Beaver, Dennis the Menace, Hazel) and
dramas (Perry Mason, Rawhide, Gunsmoke). He was the UN
Secretary General in the Twilight Zone classic To Serve Man
(1962). Slight yellowing. Otherwise, fine condition.
