dressmaker Edwin Hardy Amies (1909-2003) was awarded a Royal Warrant to
be official dressmaker to Queen Elizabeth II in 1955. A veteran of WWII,
Amies set up his own fashion house in 1946, operating the establishment
until his retirement in 2001. In addition to dressmaking, Amies designed
costumes for a number of films, including 2001: A Space Odyssey. He
was knighted in 1989. Lightly toned. Corners rounded. Otherwise, fine
condition.
