Original Art signed: "Harold M Agnew", 8½x11 cardstock. Black felt tip drawing of a Mushroom Cloud. Dr. Harold M. Agnew (1921-2013) was in the small group that worked with Enrico Fermi on the first nuclear fission chain reaction at the University of Chicago. He was present there on December 2, 1942 for the first initiated self-sustaining controlled nuclear chain reaction. On April 1, 1943, Dr. Agnew joined the Los Alamos laboratory and worked on the development of the atomic bomb. On August 6, 1945, he flew with the 509th Bombardment Group as a member of the scientific team on the first nuclear weapon strike against Hiroshima, Japan. A former Director of the Los Alamos National Laboratory (1970-1979), Agnew has advised many Presidents. Fine condition.
