HAROLD SNEPSTS
NHL defenseman signs 4½x5 newspaper photograph in blue ink
Newspaper photograph signed: "Harold Snepsts" in blue felt
tip. Sepia, 4½x5. Harold Snepsts (b. 1954) is a retired NHL defensemen
who played seventeen seasons for the Vancouver Canucks (1974-1984,
1988-1990), the Minnesota North Stars (1984-1985), the Detroit Red
Wings (1985-1988) and the St. Louis Blues (1989-1991). Considered
one of the most popular players in Canuck history, Snepsts early on became a fan
favorite for his hard-working, blue-collar defensive game, and his first ten
years with the team was definitely their most effective defender. He played in
the NHL All-Star Game in 1977 and 1982, but unfortunately the Canucks were one
of the weakest franchises at the time and never got far in the playoff season.
After multiple injuries and fights during the 1982-1983 season, Snepsts was
traded and never really got his game back to his original level. Overall,
Snepsts played 1033 games with 233 points and 2009 penalty points. He
retired in 1991 and was inducted into the Canuck's "Ring of Honor" in 2011, and
works for the franchise as a scout. Irregularly cut. Corners and edges worn.
Toned. Ink notes on verso in unknown hand. Otherwise, fine
condition.
