Typed note on verso: "With all good wishes for a speedy recovery. August 1953. Stratford." Andrews (1911-1989) was an English stage actor who starred several times on Broadway in Shakespearean and other classical roles (including Henry the Fourth and Oedipus Rex, both 1946). His film roles including many military parts, beginning with Paratroopers (1953). In Alexander the Great (1956), he played Persian King Darius opposite Richard Burton's Alexander. (The two actors appeared together again in the film rendition of Equus. 1977). Sandra Brennan of All Movie Guide observed of Harry Andrews: "Though almost always a supporting player, his performances often overshadow those of the stars. Fine condition.
