HARRY BENJAMIN
The pioneer of natural medicine recommending his method as a cure for a woman's health problem.
Typed Letter signed: "Harry Benjamin", 1 page, 8x5. Worthing, Sussex [England], 1962 March 21. On his personal letterhead as a Member of the British Naturopathic Association to "Dear Miss Home", in full: "In reply to your letter, sent on to me here, I note all you have to say and am very glad to hear you have found my book about the Work so helpful. With regard to your health problem, I think the best book of mine which you can get is EVERYBODY'S GUIDE TO NATURE CURE. I can have a copy sent you if you like to send me a cheque to cover cost and postage, which is 24/-. If, after reading the book, you feel you would like some detailed personal advice about your health, I would be very glad to give this. The fee would be £3.3.0 to cover a period of three months, during which time you would have to report monthly. With all good wishes, Yours sincerely". British author and health practitionerHarry Benjamin (1896-1966) was a leading exponent of natural cures, as opposed to reliance on medicine, believing that disease was nature's way of cleansing the body of impurities. His first book, Better Sight Without Glasses (1928), was followed by Everybody's Guide to Nature Cure (1936), a book which remains in print and widely cited by advocates of holistic health. Benjamin was also a theosophist, married from 1943 to Elsie (Savage) Benjamin, the head of Britain's Theosophical Society. Lightly creased. Fine condition.
