HARRY BLACKSTONE, SR. Photograph inscribed and signed: "To/Len Albert/with very good wishes/Harry Blackstone/6-6-1957". B/w, 8x10 overall, image 6¾x7½ (one surface). Born Henry Boughton, Blackstone and his younger brother, Pete, started in Vaudeville in 1910 as "Harry Bouton & Co." Blackstone later toured as "Frederick the Great" until WWI, and made his first appearance as "Blackstone, World's Master Magician" on January 7, 1918. During the 1920s, he was noted for his spectacular illusions, including the "Vanishing Horse", "Vanishing Automobile" and "Vanishing Camel". Blackstone wrote a number of how-to books on magic, explaining card and sleight of hand tricks, one of his fortes. Lightly creased. Mounting paper remnants on verso (no show through). Overall, fine condition.
