HARRY CHAPIN and DOUG WALKER
Harry Chapin and Doug Walker inscribe a program titled Harry Chapin on the Road.
Program inscribed and signed: "To DEBBIE/Harry Chapin" and "Doug/Walker", 20p, 9x12. Concert tour program titled Harry Chapin on the Road. © 1976 Harry Chapin. Chapin has signed on 12th page, on his illustrated image, opposite an essay on World Hunger Year. Walker has signed on 17th page, next to his photo (b/w, 3½x3) and short biography. HARRY CHAPIN's autobiographical song, "Taxi", appeared on his 1972 album, Heads and Tales. His performance earned a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist, and two years later he would again be nominated, this time for Best Male Vocal Performance, for "Cat's in the Cradle". Known equally for his social activism, Chapin gave over 100 benefit concerts a year. He was on his way to a concert when he was struck by a heart attack which killed him on the Long Island Expressway in July of 1981. Chapin was working on his 12th album at the time. DOUG WALKER, lead electronic and acoustic guitar and backup vocalist, was part of Chapin's band on all his early performances. He also performs gospel music. 1½-inch tear at upper right corner of page opposite Chapin's signature. Cover slightly worn. Overall, fine condition.
